Draper Does It Again

Anytime I spy Dorothy Draper photos I must pounce, because she's one of my favorite designers.
These were on design*sponge & they feature The Greenbrier Hotel in West Virginia.
The first three photos are from the past, the last is present day. I love how it takes a moment to tell the difference.

Magnificent Miss Pettigrew

If you're into design by Billy Haines & Dorothy Draper, you must see Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day.
I've been wanting to do my room in greys.. but these icy blues, creams and silvers are much more elegant.
My favorite scene is a portrayal of Botticelli's "Birth of Venus". The star emerges from the water of her bathtub & it just so happens the wall looks like a shell... Gorgeous.

Pick a Color, Any Color

A little help here? This is my beloved Dorothy Draper chest. I scored it on Ebay a while back.

This is what it looks like restored, but I'm not thrilled with the color combo.

These two below are getting closer. The photo on the left is what I tend to see most often, but I want a softer color for upstairs. I'm kind of feeling the baby blue, but fear it may look too childish?

I like the grey on these chests. Not sure if they're authentic Draper, but I like the color combos. Maybe it's a copout though, going too neutral.

Thoughts?

Taste of Paris

I love Lynn Goldfinger-Abrams' home! I spied it on Apartment Therapy LA. Her living room is so chic and Parisian.

Don't you love the trend of vintage trophies?

Now we're at my favorite part. The bedroom! The seafoam wall with the sweet bronze sculptures over the bed, the blue lamp, the sunburst mirror with the Dorothy Draper chest!

I bought one on Ebay a while back. It's still waiting for a home in our hallway. When I bought it I had other plans. I still can't decide which color to repaint it....

Take the entire tour here.

If you're looking for trophies, this one below is for sale on Ebay. It's from 1924 & looks similar to the trophy 2nd from the right in her room.

Dorothy Draper chest

Don't you love ebay? This is my latest score - a Dorothy Draper chest from the 50's.
I've been eyeing this chest for months, but every time someone is selling one, they're normally very expensive.
She is one of my favorite designers, so glamorous, over the top & a big inspiration to most Hollywood Regency designers.
It looks like a bunch of tiny drawers, but it's really 3 long ones. I'm planning to put it in my guest bedroom, set against chocolate brown walls.
