Eskimo Chic

I'm heading to the snow.  I'll be honest with you.  This California girl hates being cold.  But these fabulous Chanel creations are warming my heart.

A clutch that resembles a block of ice and crystals on my finger?  Yes please.

Forget a ski suit.  I want to prance around like a chic abominable snowman.

I imagine Karl Lagerfeld looking out his window gazing at icicles while envisioning these beautiful pieces.  Crystals and feathers dripping from ice queens' necks and updos.

Chanel: Bringing Sequins Back

Don't you love when you think a style is officially retired, then a designer brings it back fresh & new? Karl Lagerfeld is working lace, sequins & beads for Chanel's autumn/winter collection and it is breathtaking.

The other day, my girlfriends and I were cringing while talking about our head-to-toe sequin & beaded gowns from high school. Then I saw these... Sigh.

Love the use of panels, which are optional on these couture creations, but how could you not?
Channeling Aphrodite. These two make me think of midnight & starry skies.

Sequins! I just bought a pair of fingerless lace gloves the other day (at Aldo) because I thought they'd be perfect for a dress-up night. Then I saw these lace gloves and stockings...

80's & 90's with bunches & strings of beads hanging from a strong-shouldered suit.

Like a virgin...
Here's where it gets romantic with a touch of the 20's.

I want it to be autumn right now just so I can sport some lace tights!

Chanel At the Cinema

I have been waiting for this! Coco Avant Chanel (Coco, Before Chanel). I wish I understood the French in this trailer.

Still, I am happy watching Audrey Tatou. Amelie is one of my favorite films. Ooh, remember her in Dirty Pretty Things?

(Let's forget The Da Vinci Code, shall we?)

Perfection Through the Looking Glass

Windows may not be mirrors, but who doesn't use them to check their reflection?

At first I thought it was my personal problem for thinking our holiday windows have been falling flat. Leave it to Karl Lagerfeld to save the day. His holiday windows at Printemps in Paris feature space age marionettes dressed in and inspired by Coco Chanel. Can it get any better?

Yes! Check out the delectable fuschia & purple confections below.

Audrey & Coco Chanel

Audrey Tautou can do no wrong because of her role in Amelie. She is frail, kind, vengeful, sensitive and in love with love. Plus she resembles Audrey Hepburn. Hello!

Tautou is ruling the world right now. She is the new face of Chanel No. 5 & will portray fashion visionary Coco Chanel in a new French film.

Says French director Anne Fontaine, "I wanted to follow the interior path of this young woman who was poor, without education, but who had an uncommon personality that was ahead of her time."
Sigh. I can't wait.

If you weren't convinced Audrey Tautou & Hepburn were separated at birth, just look at the photo below. Lovely.

Out To Lunch

I was so inspired by my Chanel post I grabbed my fave heels and rummaged through my closet... I'm wearing a Max Studio dress & Theory cardigan, The Mayle belt was a steal at Barney's. I think it toughens up the look a bit.
Who knows the labels Robert's wearing... Oh he has on a new tie from JCrew... & I insisted on the darling cream Gucci loafers. Very Sperry & Vampire Weekend inspired :)

Chanel at Paris Fashion Week

I love Karl Lagerfeld's new looks for Chanel's Fall/Winter 2008-2009 colletion!
The black & tan & b&w looks... those tights! I need the two-toned tights.
What decade are those dresses inspired by? 30's? 40's? Help me out fashion bloggers... :)
Love the bottom look too.. the straps & goth feel...

Toi & Tootsies

Caroline & I had dinner at Toi tonight. I took this photo in the hallway leading to the powder room. She's working hot boots.

If you're ever on Sunset in Hollywood, Toi is a relaxed, reasonable & yummy Thai place. We ordered pad thai & yellow curry. Both were great.

I just googled it & discovered it's one of Quentin Tarantino's faves too. Here's a quote from the LA Times:

"It's open really late; the food is great. I come in to write. During the day, it's way kicked back. They always play good music. I can sit for five hours, order some coffee and just work. I've been doing that at Toi for 15 years."

I've interviewed QT a couple of times. He's a ball of energy & a total charmer. I asked him (at Movies Rock) to name his favorite song. He told me "Tangled Up In Blue" by Bob Dylan.

My fave song of all time? "Blackbird" by The Beatles. It's sad & hopeful at the same time. When I've been down it's always inspired me. I learned recently that Paul McCartney wrote it about the civil rights movement. Now I love it even more.

So back to shoes. I was wearing my favorite zapatos tonight. They were a Christmas present.

They have the perfect heel. Tall enough to make you feel girly... yet you could walk in them all night. They're Chanel, so of course they're perfection!

Cheeky Chanel

I loved Chanel's looks at PFW. I had to separate them from the rest because the others make me think of a night out on the town. These make me crave strong coffee in the afternoon while lounging in a cafe on the Champs-Elysses. All of this after an exhausting morning of shopping. After the coffee, back to the Paris Ritz for a nap, a shower and a night on the town in my Alexander McQueen dress.
